Michael Jackson’s children sat at a VIP table at the reception following his memorial
Prince Michael, 12, 11-year-old Paris – who paid an emotional tribute to her father at the service yesterday (07.07.09) – and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, also known as ‘Blanket’, sat with 12 other children in The Grand Ballroom at Beverly Hills‘ Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The kids’ former nanny Grace Rwaramba was heard saying: “The kids are holding up really well. It’s good for them to be around the other kids.” According to reports, the trio were sitting with cousins ranging in age from seven to 17, and spent much of the reception “playing and goofing around”.
America’s Us Weekly magazine reported: “Blanket appeared playful at the reception, tickling his cousins and tapping others on the shoulder and then running away.”
At one point all the youths gathered to look at the programme from the ceremony which included pictures of Michael – who died aged 50 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest last month.
The children were “polite and poised” and dealt well with the constant stream of well-wishers who came to greet them.
A musical quartet played soft music at the event, while guests ate mini-cheeseburgers, mini-crab cakes and a selection of cheeses.
A host of famous faces attended, including Corey Feldman – who attended the earlier memorial dressed as Michael – Usher, Wesley Snipes, Mariah Carey, Jesse Jackson, Spike Lee and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star Anil Kapoor. Brooke Shields – who paid tribute to her friend Michael at the service – was also present, but seemed quiet and emotional.
Michael’s siblings spent much of the reception talking to each other – although it has been claimed sister Janet distanced herself from the rest of the family – and numerous guests thanking them for coming. Brother Jermaine was seen hugging several attendees, while sisters La Toya and Janet were also seen chatting to well-wishers.
Michael’s parents Joe and Katherine spent time with Brooke, while Joe was also seen in conversation with Corey – who was estranged from the ‘Smooth Criminal‘ singer at the time of his death.
Katherine – who is the temporary guardian of Michael’s children – left with Prince, Paris and ‘Blanket’.

Katie Price wants her estranged husband Peter Andre to find love again
The TV star is happy to see her estranged husband moving on with his life and has no problem if he decides to turn his blossoming friendship with British glamour model Chantelle Houghton into a romance.
Katie – who raises three children with the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer – said: “I’ve been told by more than one person that Chantelle Houghton has been seen going into Pete’s house on more than one occasion. It seems like her and Pete could be in a relationship and if they are I’m happy for them – I think she’s a good-looking girl, she seems nice and I hope they’re happy, just as long as he’s with someone who is nice to our kids. Good luck to them.”
Katie – who is also known as Jordan – is desperate to give her version of events about the split as she is tired of being painted as the villain of the break-up.
The 31-year-old star said: “It’s about time I put my side across about all the unfair things that have been publicly said about me. It’s not fair – I’m due some respect. I’m the one who was dumped. I’m not a mess – far from it – I’m the happiest I’ve been in ages. Pete is not as innocent as he’s making out; people will be shocked when they know the truth.”

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson are set to adopt
The ‘Proposal’ actor – who married the ‘Lost In Translation star last September – dreams of giving a home to a disadvantaged child because of his own upbringing with an adopted sibling.
He revealed: “My oldest brother is adopted and I have every intention of adopting at some time. I’m very grateful for having my brother in my life. I couldn’t be more pro-adoption. There are plenty of kids in the world that need it.”
Although Ryan is now very close to his three brothers, he admits they didn’t always get on as youngsters.
He added to Britain’s Glamour magazine: “I learnt how to take a punch from a very early age. I was routinely pummelled into a fine cottage cheese.” The 32-year-old star also enjoys a close relationship with his parents and says he shares a lot of their traits.
He explained: “I have my father’s face and body, but my mother’s unshakeable thirst for knowledge. She works part-time jobs but basically she’s been a student her whole life. She still goes to university and she’s in her 60s.”

The ‘Gravity’ musician – who performed an instrumental version of Michael’s hit ‘Human Nature’ at the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Tuesday (07.07.09) – decided against tackling the vocals as he didn’t want to be compared to Michael.
He said: “The decision not to sing cam from knowing what’s best for me. I think it’s a mine field to try in any way to replicate vocally what Michael Jackson has done. And in a way, it was sort of respectfully leaving an absence, you know, sort of the presence of his absence.”
John, 31, was amazed to be asked to attend the memorial – which also saw performances from Mariah Carey, Usher and Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson – as he had never met the ‘Billie Jean’ singer.
He explained: “The first thing I said was a question, ‘Does this really come from the family?’ I think that was essential to me to be able to process the honor. It took me about 48 hours to strike the balance in how I was going to approach being invited to this unbelievable event without actually having the proximity to Michael Jackson, personally. I’d never met him.” Michael died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month aged 50.
